"Has your wife gone from sexy to sloppy?" This and other trashy slop can be found on Dr. Phil's website, drphil.com. Is this guy really trying to help people? It seems to me that he is doing what so many others have done before him; exploit the sick and the weak when they are the most vulnerable.
But profiting from our mental health was not enough for Dr. Phil. Now he's jumping on the Atkins-SouthBeach-let's-all-have-a-heart-attack dieting craze and attacking our insecurities about our weight. Has anyone read what dinner is on day one of his diet? Steak and potatoes??? Ground beef is not to be missed on day seven. Didn't this guy ever get the memo about the ill effects of red meat? I'll be keeping his diet away from my colon. How about the dangers of mad-cow?
I suppose you have to wonder how he's duped us into following the lifestyle and diet of a balding, slimey, middle-aged control freak, with a mustache that went out of style in the 70's. Maybe he really does have a mind control device.
So why does he do it? My vote is he's in it for the Millions and Billions. But that's just my opinion.
Some may argue that Dr. Phil is a caring kind of guy. Then why does he segregate against disabled fans in his studio audience?
"We explain to the attendant that we can't see from these seats. We point out that we made the effort to arrive hours early in order to get good seats. Sorry, but all disabled people must sit in this section, she insists. No exceptions."
-My Dr. Phil Nightmare: 'Special' Segregation at the Dr. Phil Show, by Angela Gaggero as featured in the RaggedEdge online magazine.
This is just one of many examples of such discrimination posted on news sites and disability-related message boards. Families Together, a non-profit child advocacy group in New York state, has a letter writing campaign against some of his mental health advice which they call the "Dangers of Dr. Phil." There has even been a recent lawsuit brought against him and Paramount Domestic Television for allegedly discriminating against audience members with any previous mental health history. So let me get this straight. He's a television shrink, but you can't come to watch his show if you've ever been treated for a mental illness?? Where's the logic in that?
