Here's a piece of advice for retailers this holiday shopping season. DON'T HAND ME ANYTHING when I enter your stores!
I don't care if it's a coupon, a sales flyer or a shopping bag. If I am holding said object then I cannot walk forward. I need my hands to move forward so you are causing a traffic jam at your entrance. This isn't good for you and it isn't good for me. It just gives frenzied holiday shoppers another excuse to push and shove into me. That hurts. The combination of pain, not being able to move around your shop and the inconsideration of your handing me something that I obviously cannot hold onto makes me leave. If you want me and other gimps in your store then you need to adhere to Mumpy's first rule of retail. Don't hand anything to a gimp without asking. If we decline, respect that. It doesn't mean we are a hard sell it just means that taking hold of that coupon, sales flyer or shopping bag will make us fall over. Mumpy doesn't like falling over. It messes up her hair, rumples her clothes and oftentimes it hurts.
