A Petri Dish For Your Feet?

I saw this foot care product today and had to giggle.  These slipper socks are lined with a moisturizing gel that "lasts for approximately three months."  Gross.
O.k., it does say that they are "handwashable" but we are talking about feet.  I can only imagine what would be living and growing in that gel lining by the third month. 
This is one piece of gear that Mumpy is not going to try.

Fun & Games

It's all fun and games until someone loses a........bunny?   
Ah games, the gift that keeps on giving!  My family exchanged a large quantity of games this year and we have spent much of the past week learning the new rules and strategies of each. 
Our family favorite is Carcassonne, a tile laying game, although Killer Bunnies, The Settlers of Catan, Axis & Allies and Gloom have already produced hours of fun.  My brother just received a copy of the old fantasy boardgame Talisman yesterday and although it's no longer in print it was worth the trouble of searching for it. 
My problem now is the addictive nature of these games.  I know I really do have other things I should be doing (such as being a teensy bit more attentive to my blog) but I really must gain points for my meoples, find the magic carrot, build my civilization, win the war, die tragically and get my talisman so that I may face the dangers of the tower!

Researchers say, 'Do what feels natural.'

I always enjoy an article that includes the statement, "We don't want to alarm patients about this." Hmmmm......
New research has demonstrated that women who do what feels natural during childbirth fare just as well as women who are coached.  There is even some data that indicates that women who are coached with the timing and frequency of their pushing have a higher incidence of bladder problems at the delivery.  Why haven't we heard of this before?  Well, they wouldn't want to alarm patients about this now would they?  If they 'alarmed' patients with this information, then patients could make the educated decision to not pay for such services. *gasp* With over 200 births a minute worldwide we wouldn't want that kind of information getting out now would we?  Birthing coaches would be out of a job. Think of the loss of sales of bladder control pharmaceuticals, additional procedures and toiletries.  Think of the profits!

Boxing Day Remembrance

Today is the one year anniversary of the tsunami disaster that claimed more than 200 thousand lives.  In the spirit of Boxing Day I would like to encourage readers to consider helping those in need.  Most survivors of the tsunami are still without housing.

C-Day +1

Christmas Day +1.  Well we've survived the holidays.  This little trooper was happily surprised by how smoothly things went and what a wonderful time she had.  With festivities beginning early in the day Christmas Eve, and with traveling involved that day as well, this is one tired gimp.  At first I didn't think I'd make it through to the end of the festivities but somehow the combination of holiday joy, and a bit of determination (not to mention some well timed doses of Mr. M's homemade stout) helped me make it through.  We all had a wonderful time and I didn't get sick once.  It really was a Merry Christmas.  Mission accomplished. 
Now time to store any reserve strength and stamina for my next engagement.  New Year's Eve.

Cows better at selecting leaders than American voters

Recent studies demonstrate that cows are very adept at selecting successful leaders. 
Perhaps we could learn a thing or two from these gentle creatures?
