Extreme Chairing hosts Trail Ride 2006. The 2 day 40 mile event will be held on August 26th. 70% of funds raised will go towards SCI research and the remaining 30% will go towards the annual costs of running Extreme Chairing.

The University of Zhejiang has designed a textured version of the Rubik's Cube for visually impaired users and those who wish to test their sense of touch as well as the challenge of the classic puzzle game. Each side of the cube is faced one of the following six materials, wood, metal, rubber, plastic, stone and textile.
The Touch Rubik's Cube is now available through Yanko Design.

It's all fun and games until someone loses a........bunny? 
Ah games, the gift that keeps on giving! My family exchanged a large quantity of games this year and we have spent much of the past week learning the new rules and strategies of each.
Our family favorite is Carcassonne, a tile laying game, although Killer Bunnies, The Settlers of Catan, Axis & Allies and Gloom have already produced hours of fun. My brother just received a copy of the old fantasy boardgame Talisman yesterday and although it's no longer in print it was worth the trouble of searching for it.
My problem now is the addictive nature of these games. I know I really do have other things I should be doing (such as being a teensy bit more attentive to my blog) but I really must gain points for my meoples, find the magic carrot, build my civilization, win the war, die tragically and get my talisman so that I may face the dangers of the tower!
Child's Play has surpassed the $100k mark in gifts and donations for kids in Children's Hospitals around the globe.
Child's Play is organized by Tycho & Gabe over at Penny Arcade who have worked with hospital staff to create Amazon wish lists of games, toys and movies. This was, and is, primarily a movement of gamers with a heart. While popular media cast us as evil miscreants lets take this opportunity to prove them wrong. (Well at least the 'evil' part.) So join the movement.

The Nintendo DS touchscreen lends itself nicely to this innovative form of gameplay. Surgeries are performed with the stylus. The pressure is on!

Nintendo has unveiled it's new one-handed wireless controller for it's Revolution game system. The new controller can also be plugged into the standard two-handed controller if preferred. Although disabled gamers were not mentioned this controller will open up more gaming options in the near future.
Multiple recent studies have shown that immersion into gaming helps pain sufferers. Gaming offers a distraction from pain.
But for many crips there are accessibility barriers to gaming. A lack of specialty gaming controllers and games that support currently available devices limit many potential gamers.
So, I will be spending the weekend doing research (ie,. gaming, gaming, gaming) and appreciate any info you may have of games and controllers that have either helped or hindered.
